More than just a great wine growing area, Gibbston  is rich in history - from goldmining and early farms it’s also home to the first commercial bungy jump operation – AJ Hackett Bungy. The best way to become part of this living history and absorb the scenic splendour is slowly, by bike. This relaxing journey through the outstanding natural landscape will be etched on your memory forever.

As our name suggests, we will have a picnic along the way sampling some of the excellent local cheese and bread.
The Picnic Bike Co - a branch of Fat tyre adventures, New Zealand’s leading Mountain bike guiding company is the only bike tour company with Department of Conservation concessions to guide on the majestic Gibbston river trail network.
We employ knowledgeable local guides and take only small groups of riders (max 8).
The Gibbston River trail is part of the Nga Haerenga, New Zealand Cycle Trails network sponsored by the NZ Government.

The best way to become part of this living history and absorb the scenic splendour is slowly, by bike.
